Revitalisation of the former Reclam publishing house. The restoration and refurbishment of the listed building was carried out in line with challenging requirements by authorities. Visible or hardly hidden war damages had to be remediated and reconstructed in a genuine manner. For instance it was requested to produce and assemble hand-made tiles or individually shaped bricks exactly like their original archetypes. Waste land – result of demolitions of war – was redeveloped and the quarter’s urban structure repaired and completed by new buildings. The building design and used materials are tied in with the existing building, but transfer evident elements into new shapes.
