Stalagmite
Invited urban planning ideas competition for the conversion of two infrastructure-used sites in downtown Moscow. The brief calls for the development of at least 800 residential units and ground-floor commercial spaces on a prominent plot along one of Moscow’s main arterial roads. Like stalagmites, residential towers rise vertically, connected by a base structure that forms a perimeter block. The building contours respond to the urban context and cardinal directions, creating unique sightlines and ensuring generous sunlight exposure—even within the interior areas of the block. On a separate site, a parking structure for approximately 450 vehicles will be developed, including office and retail spaces. For both visual appeal and sound insulation, the façades are framed with louvered elements that depict the image of a Russian birch forest.
